One of the most anticipated albums of May is coming out May 19. That album is called Blurryface, and the artist is Twenty One Pilots.
Twenty One Pilots has been taking over the world. The duo consists of Tyler Joseph (singer and plays any instrument that happens to be there) and Josh Dun (drummer), and although they are not yet household names, they will be soon. They have kept fans happy with a heavy touring schedule, and by releasing singles off of their newest release, Blurryface.
The band embraces a crazy mix of musical styles they call “schizoid-pop”. Their lyrics are about the things we all go through in life, depression, family, love and growing old. It may sound sad, but each song leaves fans with a sense of hope. The first single released from Bluryface is called 'Fairly Local'. It is an intense song about fighting urges, inner demons, and good versus evil. The latest release from Blurryface is a song called 'Ride', a reggae-tinged song about life, friends and death. The band did not release singles from their first albums, so this is a new approach for them. There is a lot of diversity in the songs released so far, and hopefully, this will continue through the album.
The band's appearance has changed in this new album. We are seeing Blurryface emerging before our eyes. Josh Dun has been wearing red shadowing around his eyes and the band has been wearing red bands around their arms. In a recent interview with Alternative Press, Tyler Joseph stated: "The more and more I got to know the character Blurryface, the more I realized that the color blue was not a part of who he was. And because of that, red represents him on this record."
Vessel, the bands third album, was a calming blue and white. This album has a dark and intense quality, and I can’t wait to hear the whole thing. More importantly, I can’t wait to see them perform it live! If you haven’t had the chance to see Twenty One pilots live, order your tickets now, and thank me later.
